Te Deum; Mass No. 3 in F minor

When Anton Bruckner gave the première of his "Te Deum" at the Weener Musikverein in 1886, he later spoke of the "pride of my life". This rare self-confidence is surprising, as the composer was otherwise known for his doubts and revised many of his works multiple times. But this time Bruckner was sure of himself - and the critics agreed with him: the "Te Deum" became one of his greatest successes and even surpassed many of his symphonies in terms of resonance. The story of the Mass in F minor - a work commissioned by the Vienna Court Orchestra and composed almost twenty years before the "Te Deum" - was different. Bruckner subjected the work to various revisions until 1893 - a typical creative path for him. He conducted the première himself and even bore the (considerable) costs after the court chapel initially rejected the mass as "unsingable". Only gradually did the work find its place in the repertoire. The recordings on this album were made in 2024 and 2025 and bring together an excellent international cast of singers under the direction of a world-renowned conductor.
