The Bells & Symphonic Dances

The Radio Filharmonisch Orkest and the Radio Koor under the direction of chief conductor Karina Canellakis present two late masterworks by Sergei Rachmaninov: "The Bells" and the "Symphonic Dances". In "The Bells" a broad emotional range unfolds from bright sonority to dramatic intensifications and moments of quiet transcendence. The soloists Dmytro Popov, Kristina Mkhitaryan and Alexander Vinogradov and the choir characterize a colorful, vocally striking interpretation. The "Symphonic Dances" demonstrate the late orchestral artistry of Rachmaninov between rhythmic energy, nostalgic retrospection and powerful finality. Karina Canellakis, internationally acclaimed for her interpretive intensity and technical precision, casts both works in a concentrated and expressive total performance.
