The Webern Quartet was founded in 2022 in Los Angeles and was praised by The New Yorker for having "found the red thread in Schönberg's personality". The ensemble chose its name after Schönberg's student Anton Webern, whose quartet work formed the artistic foundation. In 2023, the Webern Quartet had an extended residency at the Arnold Schönberg Centrum in Vienna. Through its collaboration with Henk Guittart of the Schönberg Kwartet (which stands in the tradition of the composer's favorite Kolisch Kwartet), the Webern Quartet enjoys the privilege of continuing an authentic interpretation history.
