Recorded in the beautiful acoustics of the British Saffron Hall, Martin James Bartlett presents four ingenious piano arrangements. He opens with the spiritual Deep River in a jazz arrangement by Julian Joseph. Afro-American composer Margaret Bonds based her virtuosic piano work Troubled Water on the popular spiritual Wade in the Water. Finally, there is Stephen Hough's transcription of two songs from the cycle 'Indian Love Lyrics' by English composer Amy Woodforde-Finden, who was inspired by the colors and poetry of her new homeland India.
