Pianistic Delight On this album, the MultiPiano Ensemble explores the interaction between generations across the boundaries of time, culture and geography. In the selection of concertante piano music for multiple hands from the early 19th century with works by Mendelssohn, Moscheles, Schubert and Liszt, the recording offers examples of artistic collaboration between teachers and students, admirers and admirers - and of the reinterpretation of forgotten masterworks by today's musicians. Each work on this album symbolizes the fusion of two or even three creative spirits. The recording also takes us on an exciting journey of discovery and rediscovery: four pieces were recorded here for the first time, and the collaborative work of Mendelssohn and Moscheles was only rediscovered at the beginning of our century.

No fewer than four pianists are present to tell these highly entertaining "unplayable tales," a unique selection of early Romantic concertante works for multiple pianos and orchestra. They are all new to the catalogue in the versions recorded here and all benefit from the eloquent playing style of the ensemble. The result is a piano concerto album unlike any other: a collection of Romantic discoveries and reconstructions of works for up to four pianists and orchestra, performed by members of the MultiPiano Ensemble with the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin under the direction of Ivor Bolton. In a gradual process of metamorphosis (often involving multiple performers), music that was originally intended for one or two pianos finds its way here with an orchestra and additional pianists in tow, and the result is a very special pianistic treat.
