Violin Concerto No. 2

Glowing Nowadays Miklós Rózsa is mainly known for film music classics such as Ben Hur or El Cid, regrettably it must be said, for he wrote equally well for the concert hall. His violin concerto, aglow with Hungarian temperament, demonstrates that music can captivate an audience without the widescreen images of the Hollywood dream factory in much the same way as the much more popular 2nd Violin Concerto by Béla Bartók. Central to the recording is Roman Simovic, concertmaster of the London Symphony Orchestra, who for once can fully exploit his qualities as a soloist.
