Preferring the Violin
C. P. E. Bach reported in his death notice for his father that he preferred to conduct the orchestra on the violin rather than from the harpsichord. Whether he wrote his violin concertos for himself or for a guest soloist can no longer be said with certainty today. In this ACCENT recording, Florian Deuter and Mónica Waisman as soloists share the famous solo concertos BWV 1041 and BWV 1042. The recording is supplemented with the double concertos BWV 1043 and BWV 1060R, which could be reconstructed as the double concerto for two harpsichords.
