Vom Reden und Klingen

Vom Reden und Klingen features the art of Laurens de Man, the first organist to receive the prestigious Nederlandse Muziekprijs. The album is a highly original concert consisting entirely of program music (music that tells a story). This 'musical narrative' is widely regarded as characteristic of Romanticism, and these organ works by Bach, Mozart, Kuhnau and Kurtag are therefore rare examples of program music outside the 19th century. Laurens de Man plays the newly reconstructed Contius organ in the St. Michielskerk in Leuven, Belgium, where he had the honor of spending two seasons as organist in residence. This album is available in a limited, hand-numbered edition of 600 copies.
