Adam O'Farrill presents VALLEYS with Okkyung Lee and Tom Skinner. An adventurous jazz trio where improvisation, abstraction and melody come together. With influences from the experimental and London jazz scene, a layered and intense soundworld emerges. Adam O'Farrill is considered one of the leading trumpet players of his generation - according to The New York Times 'among the leading trumpet players in jazz – and perhaps the music's next major improviser'. With VALLEYS he presents a new trio in which he deepens his musical language further: a tension between abstraction and melody, between structure and improvisation. Together with South Korean cellist Okkyung Lee and British drummer Tom Skinner he explores the boundaries of their instruments. The result is an open soundworld in which intuition, experiment and expression are central. O'Farrill builds on this from previous projects such as ELEPHANT and For These Streets, in which he redraws musical forms and breaks conventions. In this line-up, that quest takes on a new intensity. Okkyung Lee is a key figure within experimental music. Tom Skinner is a driving force within the London jazz scene, co-founder of Sons of Kemet and active in various projects, including The Smile with Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood.
