A ritual performance where music and dance come together as a form of resistance. Seven performers move through baroque, ballroom, jazz and rave in a quest for collective energy and celebration. In a world marked by conflict and uncertainty, Chapters of Celebration poses a pressing question: what is there left to celebrate? When joy seems inappropriate, people have sought refuge in rituals and dance for centuries - not as an escape, but as resistance. Following its creation at DE SINGEL last season, this successful production returns in a new configuration. In the Red Hall, the audience sits with the performers on the stage, right on top of the ritual. Director Benjamin Abel Meirhaeghe and composer Wouter Deltour find each other again in their shared love of music and ritual. Based on Folies d'Espagne - a musical theme that echoes through the centuries in the work of Bach and Vivaldi, among others - a whirling whole emerges. Michele Rizzo, Cherish Menzo, Lasseindra Ninja, Iker Karrera, Jeremy Nedd and Toni Jodar created the choreography. Seven singing dancers move through 'chapters' in which baroque, ballroom, jazz and rave come together. As archaeologists of celebration, they dig for a collective energy that we are in danger of losing. An invitation to keep dancing.
