Performance
A collective walk through the architecture of DE SINGEL as a sensory experience. You move in silence through the building and explore space, proximity and new forms of togetherness. walk on the edge /side is a collective, intimate and sensory walking composition that explores the inner and outer edges of a spacious building. What happens when a large group of people moves through a building at the same time and in silence? How do they encounter the edges and the 'skin' of the building - and each other - within a certain time frame? In this participatory artwork, the public moves through DE SINGEL in a way that deviates from the original design (sitting, facing frontally towards a performance). With walk on the edge /side, post-digital and interdisciplinary artist David Bergé proposes an expansion of what togetherness in and with a building can mean. He loosens and opens the familiar spatial and physical boundaries between architecture and user.
