Eric Lu, winner of the 2025 Chopin Competition, presents a piano recital with Brahms, Rachmaninov, Chopin, Schumann and Prokofjev. A rich program full of sound, contrast and expression. American pianist Eric Lu won first prize at the International Chopin Competition in Warsaw in October 2025. With this, he confirms his place at the top of a new generation of pianists, following his earlier breakthrough with first prize at the International Leeds Piano Competition in 2018. Since then, he has steadily built an international career that has convinced both audiences and critics. His playing is praised for his sound imagination and emotional depth. The Guardian spoke of a 'stunning command of sound and colour', while BBC Music Magazine describes his playing as 'rare, sensitive and intuitive'. At DE SINGEL, Eric Lu presents a rich and contrasting program with music by Brahms, Rachmaninov, Chopin, Schumann and Prokofjev. From the intimacy of Schumann's Kinderszenen to the explosive power of Prokofjev's Seventh Sonata, with as the central moment Chopin's Polonaise-Fantaisie, the work with which he convinced the jury in Warsaw.
