A hybrid performance in which orchestra, electronics, dance and live video come together. Ravel's music is reread through the energy of rave culture, with pulsating rhythms, new arrangements and a sensory experience between concert and club. With Rave-L, Maurice Ravel gets a birthday that is as explosive as it is unexpected. In this hybrid production, orchestra, electronics, dance and live video meet at the intersection of concert and club culture. The ensemble Les Apaches! and conductor Julien Masmondet dive into Ravel's music and show how surprisingly modern his sound world still sounds today. The starting point is Ravel's iconic Boléro - a hypnotic buildup of repetition and intensity that remarkably closely resembles the logic of electronic music. New arrangements, live visuals and a DJ set bring his music into dialogue with the energy of contemporary rave culture. Classical instruments and electronic beats grow towards each other until the moment when listening almost naturally turns into dancing. The result is a sensory performance in which music, image and body come together.
