Muziek
Symphonic Orchestra Vlaanderen conducted by Ruth Reinhardt with soloists from the Muziekkapel Koningin Elisabeth in music by Haydn and Bartók. An intense programme about suffering and redemption, from Haydn's 'La Passione' to Bartók's nocturnal sound world. In the Easter season, the passion narrative invites us to a moment of reflection. With Ruth Reinhardt at the helm and the young soloists from the Muziekkapel Koningin Elisabeth at her side, Symphonic Orchestra Vlaanderen explores dualities such as suffering and redemption, light and darkness. The programme opens with Haydn's Symphony no. 49, nicknamed La Passione, from his Sturm und Drang period. In accordance with this literary movement, Haydn seeks greater depth, expression and emotional intensity in these years. Béla Bartók then takes us into a magical, nocturnal atmosphere. Folkloric rhythms alternate with strict structures such as the Fibonacci sequence. The lighting design by Robbrecht & Daem architects reveals the interplay of dark and light and makes the music a unique experience.
