From Beethoven to Piet Swerts

Singers and orchestra members, affiliated with Opera Ballet Vlaanderen, treat you monthly to a relaxing aperitif concert. Major pages from chamber music alternate with rarely performed works and forgotten gems. After each concert, there is an opportunity to chat with the musicians. The ticket for each concert includes one drink. Piet Swerts is known to the general public for the two concertos, respectively for piano and violin, which he wrote for the Queen Elisabeth Competition. He is also an esteemed composer of chamber music, who created a particularly intimate and poetic work with his Clarinet Quintet, opus 57, which contains the necessary humor and even winks at Johann Strauss. Swerts shares the stage with giant Ludwig van Beethoven and his relaxed Serenade in D, opus 25, and with fellow countryman Joseph Jongen, the underestimated composer of the intriguing Deux pièces en trio, opus 80 for flute, cello and harp.
