Zwerm – Calling Songs

Zwerm travels to the Hobokense Polder for a musical encounter between crickets, frogs, synthesizers and guitar effects. A listening experience in the spirit of biodiversity. Crickets, frogs, grasshoppers and cicadas - insects and amphibians that we mainly know from their sounds. Thousands of specimens hide in grasslands and wetland areas, while we at best catch a ripple in the water or a movement in the grass. Together they form a rich choir of calls and song. Like birds, crickets and frogs tell us something about the pace of climate change, the quality of our water and soil, and the state of biodiversity. During Dear Antwerp, resident artist Zwerm travels to the Hobokense Polder for Calling Songs. With small experimental synthesizers and guitar effect pedals, Zwerm interweaves the calls of local animals into a temporary composition that invites people to listen differently to the living landscape around them.
