The rarely performed Piano Concerto No. 0 showcases a composer brimming with experimental fervour, followed by the playful and virtuosic Piano Concerto No. 1. The Piano Concerto No. 4 is the evening’s centrepiece: introspective and groundbreaking, with a subtle dialogue between piano and orchestra that redefines classical conventions. Saturday celebrates Beethoven's unstoppable growth. The Piano Concertos Nos 2 and 3 blend lyricism and drama in intense dialogues between soloist and orchestra. The Emperor Concerto, the fifth and final, concludes the cycle with symphonic grandeur and pianistic brilliance.
