In Flanders' Fields Vol. 45 - Piet Swerts

Phaedra’s volume 45 of its series In Flanders’ Fields, with Piets Swerts’s splendid Clarinet Quintet and his Second String Quartet was given the 2006 Award of Klara’s Public and was also crowned as “Best Flemish 2006 CD”. The Belgian music press awarded it its Cecilia-Snepvangers Prize for the best Belgian CD of that same year. This Award ceremony was held in the in Bozar, the Center of Fine Arts in Brussels, on Wednesday May 2, 2007. The CD continues to excite great interest. Both its works are programmed by many chamber ensembles at home as well as abroad. Piet Swerts’s music throws a handsome bridges between tradition and the present. His warm, passionate and lyrical musical language sweeps everyone along in an intense experience of all human feelings. Both compositions are close to the composer’s heart.
