The 17th C Pope Urban VIII (known as Maffeo Barberini) had many interests including music. Under his patronage, there was a great flourishing of the arts in Rome; during this time, Cardinal Francesco founded an academy. The composers featured here were part of this musical culture and include Vitali, Ferrari and Frescobaldi, performed here by internationally acclaimed soprano Suzie LeBlanc.
