Barry Douglas hat seit seinem Gewinn der Goldmedaille 1986 beim International Tchaikovsky Piano Competition in Moskau eine beeindruckende internationale Karriere aufgebaut. Er ist ein gefragter Solist, Konzertpianist und Kammermusiker und hat mit den meisten führenden Orchestern der Welt aufgetreten. Als Künstlerischer Direktor von Camerata Ireland, dem einzigen vollständig irischen Orchester, und des Clandeboye Festival feiert er sein irisches Erbe. "Celtic Nocturne" präsentiert Nocturnes von John Field, traditionelle irische Melodien und drei Kompositionen von Barry Douglas selbst, die alle den lyrischen, melodischen Charakter aufweisen, der die irische Musik kennzeichnet. Douglas' Liebe zu dieser Musik und seine Verbundenheit mit ihr sind von Anfang an deutlich; seine instinktive Musikalität und Lyrik kommen vollständig zur Geltung.
