Trio

Renowned musician André Previn, world star on the podium and at the piano, has won no less than four Oscars - as a film-music composer and this CD shows some of his other works. Forsaking Hollywood for a dazzlingly successful career as a pianist and conductor, he never lost his remarkable talent for composing. The Ensemble Blumina has now recorded his Trio for oboe, bassoon and piano - surprising us with a virtuosic interplay of alternation and contrast, which flashes mercurially through the genres and is happy to embrace opulent Broadway sounds.
