Annelien Van Wauwe

Annelien Van Wauwe (Hamme, 1987) is a Belgian clarinetist who lives in Belgium (Mechelen) and performs internationally as a soloist.

Annelien Van Wauwe began playing clarinet at the age of eight. After completing secondary school in 2005, she began her training as a professional clarinetist at the Musikhochschule Lübeck at age 17 with Sabine Meyer. After graduating there, she continued her studies at the Conservatorium van Parijs for music and dance with Pascal Moraguès in 2009 and from January 2010 at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome with Alessandro Carbonare and subsequently at the Hochschule für Musik „Hanns Eisler" Berlin with Ralf Forster and Wenzel Fuchs and completed a masterclass in Los Angeles with Yehuda Gilad. In the field of historical performance practice, she studied classical clarinet with Eric Hoeprich and Ernst Schlader.

Her studies were funded by a scholarship from the Flemish Young Talented Musicians (2004–2005), the Chamber Music Foundation Villa Musica, Rhineland-Palatinate (from 2007), the Oskar and Werner Ritter Foundation (2007–2008), the Ad Infinitum Foundation at the University for the Arts (2009–2010), Vocatio Brussels, from the Dortmund Mozart Society as well as a scholarship from the German music competition in Bonn.
