Daniel Reuss

Daniel Reuss (1961) is a Dutch choral and opera conductor.

Reuss studied at the Rotterdams Conservatorium with Barend Schuurman. He has served as artistic director and conductor with the following choirs and ensembles:

from 1982 to 2007 the Oude Muziek Koor Arnhem
from 1988 to 1998 the vocal ensemble "Venus"
since 1990 Cappella Amsterdam
from 1998 to 2001 the Bachkoor Holland
from 1990 to 1997 the Nederlands Studenten Kamerkoor
from 2003 to 2007 the RIAS Kammerchor in Berlin
since 2008 the Ests Filharmonisch Kamerkoor in Tallinn.
In the summer of 2006, he conducted the Lucerne Festival Academy at the invitation of Pierre Boulez. In February 2007, Reuss made his debut at the English National Opera with Agrippina by Händel.
His CD recording with the RIAS Kammerchor of works by Frank Martin and Olivier Messiaen on the Harmonia Mundi label was awarded both the French Diapason d'or de l'année 2004 and the Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik. He won the latter prize again in 2015 with Cappella Amsterdam with a CD of choral works by Brahms.
Reuss was appointed Knight in the Order of the Dutch Lion on 2 November 2016.
