Hathor Consort
Hathor Consort is a classical music group founded in 2012 by Austrian Romina Lischka.
The consort is dedicated to music from the Renaissance and Baroque periods, with a string ensemble of viols da gamba at its centre. Hathor Consort consists of Anne Freitag (Renaissance traverso), Liam Fennelly (viola da gamba), Thomas Baeté (viola da gamba) and Romina Lischka (bass viol).
The name originated from Hathor, a mother goddess from Egyptian mythology. In 2014, "Lachrimae" was released, the ensemble's first CD featuring music by John Downland. The latest project of Hathor Consort was "Dhrupad Fantasia", in which it blended dhrupad (a classical music genre from India) with the English court music of Elisabeth I.
