Huelgas Ensemble

The Huelgas Ensemble is a vocal and instrumental ensemble in Belgium that specializes in early music. Music from the Middle Ages (from the 13th century onwards), Renaissance and early Baroque are central to its focus, particularly music of the Franco-Flemish School. The ensemble was founded in 1971 by Paul van Nevel, still its conductor. The name is derived from the famous Huelgas Codex, one of the most important sources of 13th-century music.
