Jean-Claude Vanden Eynden

Jean-Claude Vanden Eynden (Brussels, 26 August 1947) is a Belgian pianist.

Jean-Claude Vanden Eynden became a student of Eduardo del Pueyo at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel at a young age. He was sixteen when he won third prize in the Koningin Elisabethwedstrijd for piano in 1964. He also studied at the Muziekkapel Koningin Elisabeth.
He became a soloist with numerous orchestras, including the Symfonisch orkest van Sint-Petersburg, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in London, the Nationaal Orkest van België, the Orchestre de la Radio-Télévision Luxembourgeoise, the Residentie Orkest in The Hague, I Fiamminghi and the Orkest Franz Liszt in Budapest.
In addition to an extensive repertoire for concerts, as a soloist or together with orchestras, Vanden Eynden frequently performed in chamber music formations with musicians such as José Van Dam, Augustin Dumay, Miriam Fried, Silvia Marcovici, Gérard Caussé, Michaela Martin, Walter Boeykens, Frans Helmerson, the Ysaÿe quartet, the Melos quartet and the Enesco quartet.
His recordings are numerous. Among them are to be mentioned:

the complete works for piano by Maurice Ravel;
the concertos by Edvard Grieg, Arthur De Greef, Richard Addinsell and Didier Van Damme;
the sonata for violin and piano by Guillaume Lekeu;
the piano sonatas by Johannes Brahms.
Vanden Eynden was frequently a jury member in international competitions, first and foremost in the jury of the Internationale Koningin Elisabethwedstrijd.
