Leon Berben
Léon Berben (Heerlen, 2 December 1970) is a Dutch organist and harpsichordist. In 2012 he lived in Cologne.
Berben studied organ and harpsichord at the conservatories of Amsterdam and The Hague under teachers including Rienk Jiskoot, Gustav Leonhardt, Ton Koopman and Tini Mathot and obtained the diploma Performing Musician for both organ and harpsichord. From 2000 onwards he was harpsichordist of Musica Antiqua Köln, directed by Reinhard Goebel, with which he performed concerts throughout the world and recorded for, among others, Deutsche Grammophon / Archiv Produktion / Ramée. Since 2006 he has devoted himself to his solo career. He specializes in historically informed performance practice and in the work of Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck, among others.
