Marc Albrecht

Marc Albrecht (Hannover, 1964) is a German conductor.
Albrecht is the son of conductor George Alexander Albrecht and former ballerina Corinne Albrecht. He was, among other things, assistant to Claudio Abbado at the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester and assistant conductor to Gerd Albrecht (no relation) at the Hamburgische Staatsoper.
Between 1995 and 2001, Albrecht was music director at the Staatstheater Darmstadt. In 2005 he became artistic advisor at the Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg, where he became music director in 2008.
Since 2009, Albrecht has been chief conductor at De Nationale Opera and the Nederlands Philharmonisch Orkest in Amsterdam. He announced his departure after the 2019-2020 season to focus on his international career.
On 20 June 2020, he was distinguished as a Knight in the Order of the Dutch Lion in recognition of his years of contribution to the Dutch and international music landscape.
