After winning the 11th International Franz Liszt Piano Competition in 2017 at TivoliVredenburg Utrecht, the musical career of British pianist Alexander Ullman (1991) gained tremendous momentum. Alexander Ullman subsequently appeared increasingly on major international stages. That Alexander is a great Liszt interpreter was proven earlier when he won first prize at the Liszt Competition in Budapest in 2011.
For those wishing to hear the British pianist live, on 28 September 2022 they can attend the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, where he will be heard in Pianistenfeest Hemelbestormers.
Prior to the concert in Amsterdam, on 24 June the release takes place of his new Liszt recording: Alexander Ullman has recorded Liszt's first and second piano concertos with the musicians of BBC Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Andrew Litton. On this recording, both piano concertos frame Liszt's piano sonata in b minor, S.178.
Earlier this year Alexander Ullman released in April 2022 with Noemi Gyori and Gergely Maderas a recording of works for flute and piano written by Hungarian brothers Franz (1821-1883) and Karl Doppler (1825-1900).
Alexander Ullman's first solo recording with transcriptions for piano of ballet pieces by Stravinsky, Tchaikovsky and Prokofiev was released in March 2019 (label Rubicon). For his first recording Ullman chose Russian ballet repertoire: The "Nutcracker Suite", op. 71a, Three Movements from Petrushka and Six Pieces from Cinderella, Op. 102. With this extremely virtuosic programme, Alexander Ullman demonstrated his extraordinary technique.
