From June onwards, the Atomium will offer various "Atomium Jazz" concerts in the Ilya Prigogine hall, a side sphere with an eight-meter-high ceiling and a wide view over Brussels.
The Atomium has set up this project not only to offer the public an innovative and diverse cultural program, but also to support Belgian artists by allowing them to use the spaces and the strong image of the Atomium. To realize this project, the Atomium collaborates with Brussels saxophonist Thomas Champagne, curator of these concerts.
The first concert is a tribute to the legendary jazz figure Toots Thielemans and takes place as part of "Toots 100", the celebratory year in Brussels to celebrate the 100th birthday of the jazz master. After more than forty years of accompanying the great Toots Thielemans around the world, Bruno Castellucci presents a quartet of prestigious musicians: Stéphanie Mercier (alto sax), Jeanfrançois Prins (guitar), Christophe Devisscher (bass) and Bruno Castellucci (drums). The concert is preceded by 'Ket Talk about Toots', a series of anecdotes and beautiful stories told by friends of Toots.
