On March 11, at 20.00 hours, a benefit concert will take place in the Sint-Germanuskerk in Tienen in aid of the victims of the earthquake in Turkey and Syria, which has claimed several tens of thousands of victims, more than the entire population of Tienen.
Under the inspiring leadership of Tienen conductor, composer and music teacher Koen Vits, an ad hoc choir brings adapted music, which is interspersed with poetry from the affected region, selected by Turkish, Kurdish and Syrian residents of Tienen.
The proceeds from this event go entirely to forum 1212, the Belgian Consortium for Emergency Assistance.
The initiator is "Koor&Stem Vlaams-Brabant", with the support of Kiwanis Tienen Hageland, Lions Club Tienen and Buren voor Buren Tienen. They are counting on a wave of solidarity.
You can support the event by purchasing admission tickets and by making financial donations. Practical information can be found on the event's website, www.benefietconcert.be and its Facebook page, https://fb.me/e/2iyjdjP8Q.
