Leuven, 30 August - The 23rd edition of the popular festival 'Zomer van Sint-Pieter' has been concluded with thunderous applause. More than 9,000 visitors enjoyed 35 concerts over the past nine weeks, all of exceptional quality.
The performances took place in the afternoon and attracted an average of 260 music lovers per concert. "This year was once again a great success," says Bert Cornillie, Alderman for Culture in Leuven. "The festival stands out not only for its varied and high-quality programme, but also for its accessibility and connecting atmosphere. What makes us particularly proud is that 10% of visitors made use of the UiTPAS discount rate. This allows people who are experiencing financial difficulties to fully enjoy culture with 80% discount on their tickets. This underscores our commitment to making culture accessible to everyone."
Annick Dumalin, programme curator at 30CC, is also delighted with the large turnout. "It was heartwarming to see how consistently the audience was present, both for well-known classical works by Bach, Beethoven and Mozart, and for more challenging pieces by composers such as Ysaÿe and Berio, or even traditional music from India and Estonia. For many Leuven residents, 'Zomer van Sint-Pieter' is the way to spend the summer. They combine listening to beautiful music with a pleasant time together in the city."
Mark the dates for next year
'Zomer van Sint-Pieter' will return next year from Tuesday 1 July to Friday 29 August 2025, with 35 concerts on the programme once again.However, lovers of choral music don't have to wait that long. On Sunday 22 September, the new cultural season of 30CC begins with the free choral festival Leuven beKOORt!
