Evil Penguin TV moves to the big screen

If you've ever tuned into the Stingray Classica music channel, you've probably already seen contributions from production company Evilpenguin. Their concert recordings stand out because they often put Belgian artists in the spotlight and are filmed with extraordinary care. But this is just a preview of what Evilpenguin has to offer on their own channel Evil Penguin TV.
On 26 June we found them for the first time in the cinema. Following a successful screening of "A Farewell to Paris" at Lumière Mechelen, the series "Classical with Evil Penguin" now follows. They bring some gems from their catalogue to the big screen.
Thursday 12 October marks the first screening. They open the series with a surround sound version of Johann Sebastian Bach's H moll mis. This video recording of Bach's masterpiece marks an impressive 36-year journey since Philippe Herreweghe's first performance. Supported by Collegium Vocale Gent, his interpretation evolved, with new soloists such as Margot Oitzinger, Guy Cutting and Alex Potter, alongside long-time collaborator Peter Koij. This recording is a testament to Herreweghe's continued dedication to Bach's timeless masterpiece.
For the second performance we follow Hervé Niquet and his orchestra. On the programme: Johannes Brahms' Ein Deutsches Requiem. Before the concert itself, we get a glimpse behind the scenes at Brussels Philharmonic and the Vlaams Radiokoor. What efforts are required to present such a large-scale work on stage? Follow the story of some musicians and unravel the secrets that unfold backstage.
