A more beautiful setting than the Sint-Goedele and Sint-Michielskathedraal – a marvel of Brabantine Gothic – could hardly have been found to present the Golden Label CD during the concert by Les Muffatti and Bart Jacobs on Tuesday, August 27, 2019.
The concert offered, just like the CD 'Concertos for Organ and Strings' by Johann Sebastian Bach. However, these are not concertos that Bach wrote for organ and orchestra, but rather well-known concertos that the organist of the Brussels cathedral, Bart Jacobs, transcribed for organ and string orchestra. For this concert, the cathedral was packed, not a seat remained empty. Sold out and rightfully so. What a success story that received a lengthy standing ovation as its crowning moment from an audience that was thanked with a wonderful encore.
The concert will later be broadcast by Musique 3, which recorded it. The organizers and Musique 3 gave us the opportunity to present the Golden Label for the CD during the last scheduled concerto. The audience responded enthusiastically and began applauding even during the introduction I was able to give. It was a sign of agreement with the judgment made by Klassiek Centraal.
Bart Jacobs received the Golden Label with a radiant smile of happiness, which he offered to Les Muffatti and the recording crew and publisher (Ramée). Without them, the project would never have been realized. The gesture reflects his modesty.
"De la musique avant tout chose", the statement is more than appropriate here.
