On 30 October, the Ictus Ensemble received a well-deserved honour: the mention for Best Performance at the 67th International Festival for Contemporary Music, La Biennale di Venezia.
During the event on 23 October, the Ictus Ensemble presented an impressive creation at the Venice Biennale, performing a work by Joanna BAILIE for eight musicians and video. The second part of the concert, under the inspiring direction of Tom De Cock, focused on the revival of Professor Bad Trip by Fausto ROMITELLI.
The jury motivated their choice as follows:
"Especially during the performance of the latter work, the ensemble demonstrated absolute technical precision and complete expressive control. Moreover, the electronic elements by Jean-Luc Plouvier merged seamlessly with the sound of the instrumental ensemble, doing justice to the compositional and aesthetic complexity of Romitelli's music. With this, the Ictus Ensemble offered the audience of La Biennale a concert that they will always remember."
