On 28 September, the renewed Jazz in Belgium website was launched. The site is available in three languages, now also collaborative and participatory and freely accessible to everyone. This tool for promoting and disseminating Belgian jazz was launched 25 years ago and is dedicated to the jazz community in Belgium. The site was completely renewed to meet the needs of both professionals and the general public. The new Jazz in Belgium was developed by the association Les Lundis d'Hortense and aims to become the first flagship of the jazz community in Belgium.
The new Jazz in Belgium facilitates access to information for all domains of jazz, from mainstream to modern jazz, from post bop to free jazz, from swing to manouche, from crossover to Nu-jazz... Among the content directly created and published by the various operators of the Brussels, Flemish and Walloon jazz scene, we find the following elements: an agenda open to all jazz activities (concerts, jam sessions, festivals, conferences or masterclasses...), a directory of jazz venues with geolocation, up-to-date artist pages, record releases, professional contact information and training locations.
For the general jazz enthusiast public, the site offers a dive into the history of Belgian jazz and makes it possible to discover new artists daily. Via simple identification, you can also follow your favorite content on the site - artists, venues, festivals... This way you enjoy a personalized browsing experience and won't miss anything from the current jazz scene.
For jazz professionals - artists, concert halls, jazz clubs, managers/bookers, labels, institutions, studios or journalists - the site offers user-friendly support for dynamic promotion and communication. All members of the Jazz in Belgium community can update their photo, biography and media links in just a few clicks or add concert dates for Belgium.
With this initiative, which is conceived as an invitation to join the great jazz family in Belgium, the association Les Lundis d'Hortense wants to offer a unique, dynamic space that is accessible to everyone, for the dissemination and sharing of information. At the same time, they also want to provide a valuable lever to facilitate exchanges between the different communities of the country.
