German violinist Veronika Eberle cannot perform this Thursday, September 12, at the opening concert of the Koninklijke Filharmonie van Luik (OPRL) due to an injury. She was originally scheduled to perform Beethoven's Violin Concerto in the Salle Philharmonique. In her place, Hungarian violinist Júlia Pusker will perform, laureate of the Queen Elisabeth Competition 2019. Pusker also performed Beethoven's Violin Concerto during the final of this prestigious competition.
Júlia Pusker, born in 1991 in a musical Hungarian family, studied at the Franz Liszt Academie in Budapest and continued her education at the Royal Academy of Music in London under the direction of György Pauk. Between 2016 and 2021, she was artist in residence at the Muziekkapel Koningin Elisabeth, where she collaborated with Augustin Dumay. In 2023-2024, she was selected for the Rising Stars programme of the European Concert Hall Organisation. The press is full of praise for her "magical simplicity" (The Strad), her "true aristocracy of the violin" (La Libre), and her "breathtaking virtuosity" (The Times). Pusker plays on a Matteo Goffriller violin from 1690, kindly loaned by the Michael Guttman collection.
The concert, conducted by Gergely Madaras, opens the 24-25 season of the OPRL and will be broadcast live on Musiq'3 and later on Mezzo, Medici.tv and Auvio.
