OBV brings extra performance of Romeo + Julia on April 8

Opera Ballet Vlaanderen has announced that an additional performance of the internationally acclaimed production Romeo + Julia will take place on Tuesday, April 8 at Opera Antwerpen. This performance, under the visionary direction and choreography of Marcos Morau, was initially completely sold out, but the enormous demand for tickets has led to this additional opportunity. A groundbreaking interpretation

The production Romeo + Julia stands out for its radical and contemporary interpretation of Shakespeare's classic. Spanish choreographer Marcos Morau, known for his poetic musicality and bold movement language, transforms the classical love story into an associative dream world. In this performance, the traditional narrative is abandoned to make way for a dark universe in which violence and destruction dominate. The powerful ballet music of Sergej Prokofjev, including the iconic Dance of the Knights, is performed live by the Symphonic Orchestra Opera Ballet Vlaanderen under the direction of conductor Gavin Sutherland.
