Bornem Organ Festival

The Organ Festival of Bornem brings together organists, choirs and ensembles in four varied Thursday evening concerts around the monumental organs of Bornem. The opening concert is entirely dedicated to the Thomas organ in the central church. Guest organist is Liège-born Fabien Moulaert, titular of the impressive Korfmacher organ (1841) in the Sint-Sebastiaankerk of Stavelot and lecturer at the Royal Conservatories of Liège and Verviers.

For his recital on the Thomas organ, Moulaert presents a richly varied programme. He performs organ works from the Netherlands and Northern Germany with music by, among others, Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck and Matthias Weckmann, supplemented with French sounds by Nicolas de Grigny. The concert concludes with a restrained chorale and a grand prelude and fugue by Johann Sebastian Bach – repertoire that comes exceptionally into its own on the Thomas organ in the central church.

After the concert you are welcome to a free reception with convivial socialising.
