May is a festive month for the cello! The Ô-Celli Octet celebrates its 10th anniversary and puts the instrument in the spotlight with its latest CD, released by Cypres. It invites you on a magnificent journey through the America of Gershwin and Bernstein, with compositions and arrangements by Harold Noben and Michel Herr. Stéphanie Huang, the only Belgian candidate for the Queen Elisabeth Competition for cello in 2022, is a member of the ensemble Ô-Celli.
The ensemble Ô-Celli brings together eight talented cellists, soloists, chamber musicians and concert performers. For their 10th anniversary, they join forces and share with you their vision of the American dream. Eight cellists come together in an astounding programme, in love with freedom, singing
that everything is possible. Each arrangement is a challenge for them. It reflects an innate sense of joy in service of music, which invites opera, jazz and blues. Composer Harold Noben offers them his vision of America in the triptych American wanders, while Michel Herr composes a stunning Duke Ellington medley.
