When three exceptional musical minds come together—each with a keen compositional and interpretative gift—a kind of alchemy emerges that Goethe once described as Elective Affinities. In the album Along Time we find such a synergistic spark, born from the collaboration between composer Stefano Mainetti and the duo Gilda Buttà (piano) and Luca Pincini (cello). Together they bring an extraordinary reinterpretation of Mainetti's rich oeuvre for film, television and theater.
Music as memory and experience
Along Time is not merely a compilation of previous work. It is an autobiographical journey that unfolds in musical scenes—where personal experiences and artistic memories meet in intimate dialogues between piano and cello. Mainetti, with over a hundred soundtracks to his name, found in Buttà and Pincini two musicians who not only understand his musical language, but also help shape it.
The opening composition, The Testament, stems from the extensive American audio project The Word of Promise. Here the tone is set: the piano paints with sharp precision, while the cello responds as a sorrowful voice from the depths. What follows is an inner journey that evokes deep reflection in the listener.
