America/Beautiful

America / Beautiful is a five-part collection, conceived, written and recorded by pianist and arts educator Min Kwon. It consists of 76 new piano works by American composers, inspired by "America the Beautiful". Kwon unites an impressive diversity of individual voices in a coherent musical vision that invites us to experience the United States as a living, ever-changing cultural idea. The result is a deeply moving musical tapestry - a sonic portrait of the nation in all its complexity. The overall picture is not a tight narrative, but a multifaceted image: different perspectives that question and reshape the American experiment, held together by the creed E pluribus unum ("Out of many, one"). As Kwon himself notes: "Despite all the difficulties we are facing, there is still a deep beauty, humanity and possibility in this country."
