The French pianist Roger Muraro is working on various recording projects at Alpha Classics. The pianist, born in Lyon to Venetian parents, was a student of Yvonne Loriod and is considered the leading specialist in the music of Olivier Messiaen, to whom he has devoted a large part of his career. The renowned pedagogue and former professor at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris is also known for his profound and sensitive approach to the music of Ravel, Chopin, Schumann and Liszt, to whom he is particularly devoted. He now presents a monumental masterwork by Liszt, which for him is a work of "universal intimacy": "I admire the freedom with which the evocations of the soul, of nature, of the colours of the masters of Italian painting unfold one after another. Everything Liszt saw on his pilgrimage to Switzerland and Italy contributed to a process of reflection, a journey, a quest that was to bring him closer to his ideal, in which silence became the ultimate authority".
