Bonizzi

Little is known about the life of Vincenzo Bonizzi, but he lived and worked mainly in Parma. Music historians remember him because he wrote the last work for the viola bastarda, which was published in 1626. The viola bastarda is also called the "queen of instruments" - it holds the middle ground in size and tuning between the tenor and bass gamba. Bonizzi's Alcune opere di diversi auttori is a mix of original music and pieces from various sources, all of high musical value and technical difficulty.

Viola da gamba player Paolo Biordi has made recordings for Dynamic, Naxos and other labels. He is the author of world-renowned publications such as Metodo progressivo per Viola da Gamba and Viole de Gambe en Italie. He is a scholar of the viola da gamba in the musical iconography of the 15th to 17th centuries. Andrea Perugi has worked with the Orchestra Regionale Toscana, the Teatro Comunale di Firenze and with Claudio Abbado, Cecilia Bartoli and others.
