The Ensemble Fretwork with organist Silas Wollston presents works for viola da gamba by John Jenkins (1592-1678), who is nowadays mainly appreciated for his contributions to the genre of the fantasia for violin consort. The solo pieces are also characterized by rich lyricism, exceptional musical craftsmanship and a unique approach to tonality and counterpoint.
