Festliche Musik am Habsburger Hof

The Tubicinatores gedanenses (trumpeters from Gdansk) and their "associated strings" (Arcus adiuncti) take us to the intellectual center of the Viennese imperial court with a program that describes in an extraordinarily festive manner how splendid things were at the Danube metropolis 300 years ago. An almost gigantic chapel, for which no fewer than six court composers wrote their music, plus the successive Majesties Joseph I and Charles VI, who were themselves creatively active in the field of musical art and produced remarkable things in the process: this was an environment that sent not only its artistic, but also its unmistakable political signals into the world - which is the reason why the broadly audible instruments were only available to the very highest: the virtuosic art of the trumpets and timpani was simply not for subjects...
