Flötenkonzerte

Mozart's flute concertos are of course a holy grail for flautist François Lazarevitch, which he wishes to tackle together with his ensemble Les Musiciens de Saint-Julien as part of his work on the sources of interpretation. He has recorded the two concertos for flute and orchestra on a single-strung flute, a copy of an instrument from Mozart's time, and the concerto in C for flute and harp on an eight-stringed flute - a flute with a C-foot - with Sandrine Chatron on a historical harp by François-Joseph Naderman. Since Mozart left no original cadenzas for the flute concertos, François Lazarevitch has created them here, inspired by the cadenzas that Mozart composed for his piano concertos. The minuets and gavottes in the final movements are particularly emphasized by the ensemble's expertise in dance music: "After a somewhat solemn first movement and a rather lyrical second movement, the final movements are often a moment of dance-like liberation," Lazarevitch concludes.
