Harmonium Repertoire

De muziek op deze release is geschreven over een periode van 20 jaar, en al het werk gaat specifiek over het verleden. Een oude piano, het materiaal van Richard Strauss in "Three Transfigurations", de indirecte aanwezigheid van Richard Nordraak in "Funeral March in Memory of Edvard Grieg", en fragmenten uit het archief in "Harmonium Repertoire", afkomstig van harmonium orkestrale partijen in werken van Schönberg, Mahler, Strauss, Berg en Bruckner. Sommigen kunnen een nostalgische neiging vinden. Een gevoel van verloren tijd, dat alles vroeger beter was en dergelijke. Het is niet onwaar, maar het is ook niet de hele waarheid, zou ik stellen. Ik beschouw mijn eigen compositorische werk als een fundamenteel optimistisch project waarin de kern van de activiteit gaat over relaties. Ik denk dat muziek in relatie staat tot iets, zoals een ontmoeting, soms een confrontatie, altijd in verbinding met mensen, de wereld, geschiedenis – of een piano. - Lars Petter Hagen, componist The music on this release is written over a period of 20 years, and all the works relate specifically to the past. Some may find a nostalgic inclination. A sense of lost time, that everything was better before and so on. It is not untrue, but neither is it the whole truth, I would argue. I view my own compositional work as a fundamentally optimistic project where the core of the activity is about relationships.
