The harpist Emmanuel Ceysson is known for his intense and virtuoso playing. At the age of 22, he was appointed principal harpist of the Opéra national de Paris, where he remained for fifteen years. He then joined the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra in New York for five years and since 2020 has been principal harpist of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Gustavo Dudamel. With this album, Emmanuel Ceysson pays tribute to one of the greatest harp composers in the history of the instrument: Marcel Tournier (1879-1951). Most of Tournier's works were written for solo harp or voice and harp, but he later added other instruments to some pieces, making them chamber music works. The works recorded here are Tournier's late works, which show the influence of Debussy, Satie and Ravel. Emmanuel Ceysson, the Quatuor Voce and Véronique Gens draw our attention to this important composer and to various previously unpublished versions of some of his works, the manuscripts of which have only recently been rediscovered.
