Joasz

The album is a recording of the concert premiere of this opera on 18 August 2024 at the Podlachian Opera in the East Polish city of Bialystok and is also the first record release of this work, which is based on a libretto by Pietro Metastasio from the 18th century. Joash is a so-called azione sacra, a mini-opera in two acts comparable to an oratorio. The composer based his composition partly on a Polish translation, but also referred to the original text. Musically, Lukaszewski remains true to his own style, which is rooted in tonality and characterized by varied texture - from intimate recitatives to dynamic choral passages.
